How to keep household expenses down

Living cheaply begins where you live, in your home. It is very easy to buy things that we really don’t need. Before you buy anything ask yourself if you really need it. If you really need it can you make it? If you can make it will it cost you more than if you bought it? When you are calculating the cost of building an item include your time. And when you are calculating the cost of buying an item include the time it will take to purchase it.
Don’t buy anything if you don’t need it. It pays to anticipate your future needs however. If an item is on sale today that you will need in the future by all means take advantage of the savings. Keep in mind though that just because an item is on sale doesn’t mean you will need it in the future. If you are not sure put your money back into your pocket.
